According to The Times, SPECS cameras are going to be used to replace traffic humps on some residential roads.

It seems that it is now officially recognised that traffic humps cause more pollution and noise, they are a danger to the emergency services and they cause accidents when people try to overtake.

Vast empty stretches of the M1 at 2am with just one of the three lanes coned-off, were very dull at 40mph Crying or Very sad
I thought the speed limits were supposed to be to protect the workforce? If they're not there and there is no actual digging, what is the difference between this and a stretch of ordinary two-lane motorway?

So Chav enters estate at 9pm in his Corsa and is logged by camera 1. Zooms up and down roads at 50-60 mph, a few handbrake turns and burn outs.... Exits estate at 10pm and is caught by camera 2 100 meters away from camera 1.

Therefore Chav is doing 100 meters an hour!!!! No fine, no points....

So it's just going to be like the French Toll Roads where you stop for a half hour break between tolls to stop being caught by the SPECS type systems they have / had.
