I have been running Tom Tom 5 upgraded from Tom Tom 3 on a mio 168 for some while with no issues. Maps are installed on a 256 SD card.
I recently bought a Kingston 1 gig card and have tried installing the maps onto it. It looks to be installing ok and then fails. I get is a disk access error message.
Active sync works fine with the pda syncing with the desktop ok. The lock on the card is off and i can transfer JPEG and MPŁ files to it ok. I also tried the card in my camera and it worked fine accepting picture and video files, the card also has been formatted.
I tried re installing the Tom Tom 5 system files but that didnt seem to work either. It looked as though it was working then failed.
Any ideas pleae |

Disk access error typical means a read problem on memory media. Most likely culprit is the transfer from the CD's, assuming you're installing directly from the cd.
Try copying the ENTIRE CD-rom to your pc, then removing the disc and running the copy from your hard-drive.
If that works, best thing would be to install all the maps you want directly to your pc hard-drive, so all you have to do in the future is simply copy from your hard-drive. |

Activesync often gives these sorts of errors. Try using a card reader. |

I'll second that. I've just upgraded to an O2 XDA Exec which only has an SD slot. I made sure I had a fast SD card ( following the comments I've seen on here about how sensitive TomTom 5 is to slow cards ) and copied everything to it from my old CF and SD cards using a card reader on the PC.
BTW, it's working OK as I put 5.21 straight onto the clean machine and have had Traffic, a Bluetooth headset and the TomTom Bluetooth GPS all connected at once. |
