|
Have downloaded the speed cam data (link from this site ) when approaching a red light cam I get a traffic light symbol on screen and a redlight warning with a ref number.
When I approach a gatso although in the data base the Gatso has a ref number all I get is a warning saying "30MPH limit ahead" and No icon on screen.
Should it come up with the relevant Gatso Ref number.??
I loaded the data with POI loader and set the warnings manually to the default Distance setting ...any advice |

You'll only get a warning with an icon for the camera if you're over the limit. You're obviously the paragon of virtue and never exceed it.
Under the limit you just get the initial 'bong' with the warning banner.
If over the limit you get 'bong.... bong.... bong.... ' etc. along with the banner and the camera icon on screen showing the camera position.
By their nature the speed of traffic light cameras are set to 0 mph so will show and 'bong.... bong.... bong.... ' etc. as long as you're moving.
At this time I can state that I've only experienced the 'bong.... bong.... bong.... ' etc. with a GATSO in the interests of scientific experimentation on a private road directly adjacent to a public one on which a camera is located _________________ Chas

Hi jizzer.
What you describe is the default behaviour of the Garmin units. Takes a bit of getting used to, if like me you've come over from 'the other side'.
If you are seeing the 30MPH limit ahead, you are over the speed limit. 8O
I did some serious testing on my unit and found that the camera icon only appeared if you were within 5 mph of the camera speed, and I got the overspeed warning when exceeding the speed limit by just 2 mph. Either I've got a seriously accurate speedo or this is a blinding piece of kit. Or both. :D
If you want to change it, check out Ash10's utility in the stickies on the first page. It's the biz, and really simple to use.
This will let you change your warning times and the camera icons will be on all the time you're moving. (The icons disappear when you stop in the vicinity of a camera but reappear as soon as you start moving again ).
You will also get the banner with the camera No. on it if under the speed limit, or the speed alert warning if you are over the speed limit, plus all the bings, or is it bongs. :D
Great utility.
