I am considering getting an Imate PDA-N which has built in GPS. However for occasions when the built-in GPS does not get a decent signal I am considering getting a bluetooth receiver as well. Does anyone know if this is possible?

(I don't intend to use them at the same time! Just thought I might get a Globalsat BT338 if the built-in one isn't up to scratch.)

Thanks.

Yes providing it has bluetooth and you can configure the GPS settings you should be able too, Although it might be cheaper and you may get even better GPS reception with an external antenna (under £15 on ebay) I had an Acer N35 the patch antenna on that wasn't very good on that so I bought an external antenna and got a GPS fix for 99% of the time and it also got a GPS fix quicker when first turned on

I have just had a mess around with the PDA-N and one of my BT GPS units, it will work via outgoing comm port 7, so whatever software you aim to use must display comm7 as an avail port to use the external GPS.

In fairness the PDA-N GPS reciever is great in use fast to achieve lock, I also love the screen, while it is small the vibrant colour and brightness of the device are second to none I have seen before - Mike
