Is it posible to get my TomTom one to display the speed I am traveling at ?
The reason I am asking is I a sure my speedo is not correct.
I know the road Angel dispalys speed and it would be good if my TomTom one could do the same.

Hit change preferences, then status bar preferences and tick the speed box.
It is very accurate - when traveling at constant speed on relatively straight and flat roads. takes a few seconds to catch up with correct speed though. _________________ Peter

I have turned it on :D
The speedo is out in diferent places. 60 MPH on the speedo is 60 on the TomTom but 70 on the speedo is 63??
80 on the speedo is 71?
I am going to put a Road Angel and the TomTom in the car Tomorow, and run it a diferent speeds. Road Angel say theay are acurate to about 2% so I will use that as the referance.
I will post what I find.

There have been various posts previously on this theme. Don't rely on the TT speed when your speed is changing (accelerating or decelerating) due to the TT only updating once per second. However if you are travelling at a constant speed (like motorways / dual carriageways) it is extremely accurate. I use equipment at work and can confirm it is 'spot on' compared to that. If you do a search on this site on this subject you can find quite in-depth discussions about accuracy and how the speed is calculated. If you've got a spare couple of hours, it makes quite interesting reading ! _________________ Tommo...

Don't forget to glance at the road occasionally! |
