|
|
Recently I received the City Navigator DVD from Garmin for my Nuvi 350. I have successfully loaded it on my Nuvi SD card (1gb). My questions are:
Does it work in conjunction with what is already loaded on my Nuvi or is it a replacement?
Is the stuff from the DVD updated from what is already loaded on my Nuvi?
I am not sure what i am supposed to do with this DVD.
Thanks for the help.

C | You install it on your computer and use it like Mapquest, or you can transfer maps to/from your nuvi. It's the same maps that are already loaded, so installing them on your SD card is redundant. I use it to manage my Favorites and Custom POIs.

chicagochris, Do you mind me asking why Garmin sent you the mapsource DVD, I thought the 350 included exactly the same data?
Is there any advantage or additional data that this DVD includes? |

I would be interested as well to know how/why you got it. I still have a copy of Mapsource 7 I purchased for the streetpilot and kept it - but was under the impression that you couldn't transfer the waypoints over....
So did you buy it as an additional item? |

I didn't. I asked a tech support question and they sent it to me at no charge.
He is the response i got from Garmin Tech support:
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. You should not have to load any additional maps to the device with City Navigator. It's all preloaded to the device and you won't be adding any additional detail or information. That disc is simply for your ability to find and create waypoint information on your computer and send it to the device, as opposed to using the device all the time to find the information. That is really why we do not ship the City Navigator software with the device, it's not something that is absolutely necessary and does not give you any enhanced features or capabilities. I hope this will clear up your questions for you. |
