Has anyone tried a 2G SD card in an Ipaq 3715. HP say it might work or it might not, which isn't that helpful.
They say 1G is OK but 2G may not be, but are unable or unwilling to give me any technical reason other than they haven't tested it themselves.
Makes me wonder whether they are covering themselves or whether there are known issues with this.
Any help greatly appreciated. If you do have one that works, can you tell me what make/type it is.
Thanks |

Bought it from MX2.com if it's any use |

Thanks.
Can you confirm what speed it is? The only 2G one I can see is a 'super high speed 80*' one - they have a normal speed 1G - I'd have thought the normal ones would have been safer but if this is what you have then I will try it.
Thanks |

That's the one, works perfectly. Mine is formatted FAT16 and is holding 1.8 GB of assorted maps and programmes |

I think that this area is a bit of a black art rather than science, and manufacturers quite reasonably err on the safe side with their recommendations. Whatever the specs say it may be worth trying a larger card if you have something else you can do with the card in case it doesn't work. I have 2 identical Sandisk Ultra II 2Gb SD cards and an Isis camcorder. The specs for the camera say it will only handle up to 1Gb, but I tried both cards in it. One works, but the other doesn't. The 2nd card has gone into a digital camera which works with either card! _________________ Kam |

After all this I've decided to go with a 1G card for now. Partly cos the 2G ones are more than twice the price of 2 1G cards, and partly so I can get an idea how it works and performs with a 1G card. It is new so at least if it misbehaves I will know it isn't just the card.
When the price comes down a bit and I have a better idea what I should be expecting I will try a 2G or greater.
Thanks for your help anyway. |
