Tomtom One - white scree

I think I may have broken my tomtom one.

When I power it on, I just get a completely white screen, I have tried resetting it, but it makes no difference. The unit wont respond to anything other than the power switch and the reset button. The PC wont recognise it when I plug it into the USB.

I thought I'd see if the maps (from my legally bought copy I might add) from my tomtom 5 for my ipaq would work on this, so I fired up the map installation program and selected to install the spanish map , and then selected to install it onto the tomtom go (closest to a tomtom one I thought), which it detected and proceded to install. It all copied across fine, then when the unit rebooted it displayed the tomtom go screen, but then froze, and now I just get a white screen.

Have I completely it? I couldnt find any other posts with this same problem.

I cant update the application as the PC doesent see the device.

Sounds like you might have.
Did you do anything to it, or did it just (not) wake up like that one day?

I meant to add, you should still be under guarantee, its usually 2 years for TomTom products. Check your small print.

Have you got the TomTom plugged in via an addaptor (multi-way USB Hub)? If so unplug the hub and try a direct connection with the PC, also try a different cable, it might be damaged - Mike

only a small idea but try switching it on with the media card out?

if there is no physical damage to the screen, the most likely casue is a software conflict between the bootloader and the application.
