I have now twice seen a message "route planning error" on my TT1. In both cases I was navigating to home in S. Manchester. Once from Scarborough, and once, I think, from Leeds. possibly York. I hit "home" as the destination, the planning bar goes across the screen, and then the message appears. I can then go to the map screen, see the road layout displayed, although there are no helpful hints as to which way is home. Poi detection still works.
Attempts to switch off and try again are fruitless, as is hitting the reset feature.
Last night the unit would not set up for navigate home without the error all the way from Scarborough until I was about 10 miles from Stockport on the Manchester ring road motorway. It would however allow me to plan a route to Manchester without problem.
Eventually about 10 miles from Stockport it lost GPS signals, rebooted itself a couple of times and then worked perfectly with home as the destination.
So firstly, has anyone else seen this problem, especially when travelling along a similar route?
Secondly it looks to me as if this might be a database problem, rather than the unit. A corruption in my files? Or a general error in the database that came pre-installed?
Your symptons are typical of running out of Card Memory. I believe 2MB Free is considered sufficient.
Thanks Richard. The first thing I did on buying the TT1 was to upgrade the SD card and I then cloned the data from the old card. That gave me lots of spare space, and all I have done since then is to add in camera database and generate a new background picture. No extra maps. So space is not an issue. Far far more than 2 Mb free.
Cheers
