Hi
I own a nav icn 520 and have got through 2 mounts in 3 weeks...I know sounds unbelievable but its true, both broke where the nut threads on to the ball joint, the grooves in the thread caused weakness and simply snapped them off, I was very carefull with the second one (screwed it on and left it alone) but after 2 days gone.
Anyone else had this problem and can anyone recommend an alternative mount?
P.S my two mounts are now bodged up with glue and permanatly fixed |

Hi.
They do a host of car specific mounts. As I am aware, they do two types of cradle for iCN 5xx series.
Regards

Hi
I also have used a Brodit mount for my 520 which I bought when model was introduced.
I have found the mount superb and much better placed than the one that was supplied with the unit. Much easier to view and not as distracting as when mounted on the windscreen

You might find that the breakages were a result of screwing the round 'nut' on back-to-front. The thread in the nut is tapered and the wider end should go over the bracket threads first. This puts the gripping action on the ends of the 'fingers' rather than half way along them which is when they snap. |

Hi,
Which Brodit holder/mount for navman 520 are you using, I have looked at their site but find it a bit confusing. They mention 2 holders, on for use with a cable and one without. A small picture of them, no price or other info that I can find.
Regards,

Hi
Looking to purchase a Brodit Pro Clip and holder for my 510.
Do I need to purchase a tilt swivel adapter to fit between the clip and the mount? I intend to purchase a vent mount. Mounting it on the passenger vent, so the wife will be able to see it as well as myself. I do not need to stretch over to select anything as I have a remote.
I have found the web site a bit vague on this, as to how much movement is on the mount.
Regards

Hi
As a brodit dealer, i can advise as follows:
You need a Proclip for your passenger side vent (depends on your car as to availability, usually no problem on availabilty)
Then you need the ICN510/520 Holder, which has a tilt and swivel plate installed, so need to buy a seperate tilt and swivel plate. The rotation is more difficult to measure, as this can depend on the contours of your cars dash area and any parts that stick out/prevent free movement and the elevation of the proclip from the vent area. On the ones I have installed for the ICN series, i suspect you will be easily able to rotate it enough for you to glance over at if required, it wont be 'bolt' straight facing only your passenger if you follow my meaning.
I recommend product code below (fits 510 and 520 series, you can install your own navman supplier charger :
Brodit Passive holder with tilt and swivel for navman ICN 510/520 - Item No. 215034
Please PM me if you need any more advice, or www below for images etc. Hope thats ok, thanks again,
Bryson |
