Audiobooks with GO910 ??
Has anyone tried this yet? I downloaded an audiobook and I've checked that it's in the "audiobooks" folder (along with 3 supplied samples) but the audiobooks icon on my GO is greyed out and can't be selected which suggests there's nothing there. Also when I use TomTom Home to look for the downloaded one and the 3 samples, they don't appear yet I KNOW they're definately contained in the "audiobooks" folder. Can anyone offer any advice or assistance please? Thanks.

Yes This is a Firmware Bug reported To TomTom

I have the same Problem, Purchased 2 Audiobooks from Audible,

When you hard reset the device and go to audio, it scans find the songs and audiobooks, you can then play them, but the next time you put it in the home mount and remove it again from the Home Mount, it then scans audio and does not find the audiobooks, so you have to do a hard reset again!

Real Pain,

Also make sure you have activated the audiobooks on your 910 thru the activate device link on the audible PC Software with your 910 in the home dock, or they won't work at all

Cheers

Richard

It's not a hard reset by the way. It's a simple reboot of Linux. No data is lost except what was in RAM, and some of that may even be saved to disk (like current route information)

Thats what TT Support Called it when I was on the phone to them "Put a pin in the hole while holding the power buttonm down to hard reset the machine"

So thats what I posted, get your point tho!

Unfortunately still no luck! I've hard reset a dozen times and ensured I've activated the audiobooks on my tomtom etc but still nothing. The one I downloaded and the 3 original samples are definately shown as being there but they won't show up on my tomtom and the "audiobooks" icon remains unselectable. When I do a reset it searches and finds all the music but doesn't find the audiobooks, not even the 3 provided samples. I'm stumped! Any ideas hugely appreciated.

Mine is doing the same, the audiobooks icon is faded. Where do you activate the audiobooks?

Once you have downloaded and installed Audible Manager, from the audiobooks link in TomTom Home,

In Audible Manager on the right hand side you should see TomTom in the Mobile Devices, right click on it and select activate,

But it still only seems to wirk when the TT910 is in the home dock and not in the car!

Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions but I've tried all ways with no success. I suppose TT support will be the next option. Cheers for the input though.

The largest problem I have had with the 910 is the audio books, I have got it to work but its been an uphill task which starts the moment you click the audiobooks link in TomTom Home, directed to a USA site, 16 books listed by my fav author (Dale Brown), go through the registration only to be re-directed to a "new" UK based site, only one book listed by the same author, the download instructions are rubish (understatement) - I got it to work by just blindly following my nose - not impressed though - I will write up what I did when I get home from work tonight.

The loading to the go-910, and use of the audio book on the 910 is great, the web site the tomtom home software links to should be sorted out though - needs better instructions, and a clearer path from the first entry to the site, filling in your details only to be told there is a new site for UK customers, then having to re-fill in details (from scratch) is not very good IMHO - Mike

Hi Mike

Have yo managed to get the audiobooks working when in the car properly,

I registered on the US Audible site using a US Card, so didnt see the "New" UK Site,

I can 100% Play audiobooks when in the home dock, or with the unit out and about on my desk, but as soon as I put it in the car dock the unit does a rescan and finds all the songs on it but no auiobooks and the button stays greyed out, the only way to reset it seems now to be putting it back in the home dock, where it does a scan agoan and the audiobooks reappear!.

Is yours working better than this

Cheers

Richard

Thats interesting. I have a US audible account that I have had for years. I don't pay the subscription anymore but it still allows me to access to the ones I had purchased before. So far it has never directed me to the inferior UK site....

I had to download the audible software again as the TomTom 910 was not an option of optional device plug-ins. So I went to audble.com, found the download section, selected the GPS tab, used the drop-down list to choose TomTom and then the 910 appeared. I thought plug-ins were always optional to install later, but its possible that I just needed the very latest build of the Audible software which my version refused to upgrade to.

After getting the software installed, it was plain sailing.

Resetting the 910 did it for me.
