|
|
Hi, I've got an iPac 2410 with TTN5 installed ver 5.21 (5431). I purchased and downloaded the map of France from Tomtom plus. On the first installation it failed to come up with the activation screen. Eventually it did and I manually obtained an activation code from ttcode.com, put it in and got the activation successful message. Then when I tried to switch maps it the France map does not appear in the list. I tried installing again and activating it automatically on line which it did. But still it will not show the map in the list.
I have now completely reloaded the entire programme from scratch, updated it and everything but still the map will not appear in the maps list.
Having now been to France for a week and returned, tried loading TTN2 on my iPac whilst in France, which it hates and didn't work properly, also borrowed a friends set of TTN5 maps on CD and had the same original problem. I am now pulling my hair out with frustration.
All I want to do is see a little bit of France on my screen, I don't care if it never works again afterwards.
Please, please someone help me!!

Is that a current map? TomTom 5.100+ is known not to open "v4" maps any more. What does the PNA file say?
On another note - a Plus map will maybe only show if you have a regular map activated too. The Plus map may not open by itself. (that's why it is called "Plus") _________________ Lutz

Yes the map is current - v632. Product download page states it can only be used with Tomtom 5.0 and above. Only purchased this 10 days ago.
I have tried to read the PNA file with wordpad but it keeps crashing my USB card reader! It's possible this file is defective or I have a duff SD card.
Just running a check on the card. |

if you say reading the PNA file is crashing you r reader, then I think your file(s) are corrupt. Or your SD is damaged.
The PNA file is a simple 3 line text file, so that should not cause any crash.
I think it's best to first make a backup of your card, then format the SD card. And then put everything back except the France map (files are corrupt). That France map you should re-install from the download. _________________ GO1005

I have found that if I have transferred anything by card reader and not ActiveSync that I have to 'soft' reset to make the device re-read the SD card and see the files on it.
I have Acer N35 so not sure if it is the same for your equipment but it is worth a try.
Some PDA's have a quirk of retaining the info of what is on the sd card even when it is removed. The soft reset cures that as the device is forced to do a complete scan. _________________ Mystery

Unfortunately this is incorrect. The plus map is only "plus" because it contains France "Plus" all of the major routes of Europe. There is no need to install the France map and the France Plus map.
Hope that helps. |
