I have accidently done a hard reset instead of a soft reset on my old Ipaq that I use for TomTom Nav 2 (what a fool I should have read the instructions but I thought I knew what I was doing!). I have no backup to go back to as I no longer synchronise this with my desktop any more. I now own a new 2210 that I am synchronising with the desktop but I do not have the leads to allow me to use this with my GPS and may be buying a Bluetooth GPS for this when I am ready.

What I would like to do is reinstall TomTom Nav2 back onto my old Ipaq 3630 that I have just hard reset so that I can find my way to a wedding in Southampton next week. I am not ready to install TomTom on the 2210 yet but I don’t want to use up my activations on the old 3630 if I wont be able to install for another 6 months or something on the 2210.

What a mess? I don’t fully understand the activation process. Can anyone tell me if I am safe to reinstall on the old Ipaq (it was originally installed on this in June) and in a few weeks (when I have the right GPS kit) install it onto the 2210?

Thanks, Ian.

Your iPAQ does not change the Device ID during a hard reset. You should be able to reinstall without using up any more install bonus points. If that 3630 was the only machine you installed TomTom2 onto then you can also go ahead and install it onto the 2210 - this will only use up your second activation credit.

Thanks Lutz, it installed without needing an activation code back on the 3630 - a big relief so hopefully in the coming weeks when I have the right cables I can move to the 2210 :D .
