|
|
I have been using the 2720 for quite a while now and think its a great unit but when fitted on the motorbike using the garmin fitting kit most of the time the sound doesnt come through on my autocom. Now normally I would expect to get this sort of fault fixed easily . Not this time I have phoned Garmin Europe 5 times and have listened to recorded voices for over 50 minutes without talking to a human being once, so I went there , its only a few miles from where I live
I managed to speak to a young fella that didnt even recognise their own fitting kit who said "Oh its most probably the cable but we dont have any, give me your phone No and we will let you know when we have one . That was over 3 weeks ago and not a peep from them .
So I decided to email garmin support , same thing now 9 days and no reply.
I always read that garmin support was good but I have found it to be non existent
I might just turn up at Edinburgh and create hell at the garmin stand just for the satisfaction af making things uncomfortable for them as they seem unable to help with a problem on an expensine unit of theirs _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database

Sometimes this can be due to sound levels in the Autocom as viarious inputs take priority over others if they are generating a signal.
I would recommend that you give Autocom a call - their customer service is excellent and they sell Garmin kit themselves IIRC. |

By trial and error I isolated the problem to the 2.5mm socket that is on the fly lead for the garmin motorcycle mount cable . Garmin dont have any in stock(what) so while I am waiting for the replacement cable to turn up I thought OK lets cut the damn thing off.
So being a coward I rang Autocom to check the colours they use and Lo and behold they said oh yes the garmin cables C**P we always cut and solder them. So that was it all the time .Now works a treat.
Only thing that surprises me is that in the car I need the Volume set to 70% but on the bike with earplugs in all I need is 40%. _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database
