OK, this is annoying....
Every so often, and with no discernable pattern, TTN2 will loose all my settings (favourites, display preferences, recent locations, the lot). When I start the program, I get the safety disclaimer and then I'm taken into the turorial. Usually this happens just as I'm about to leave for a journey - extremely frustrating.
I can get around the problem by saving the configuration files to a different folder, and then copying them back into "TomTom Navigator Settings" when the problem happens but this is a pain to do. Plus I have to renew these backups every time I make a change to the configuration....
Any ideas?
BTW I have TTN2 v2.24 running on an HP Jornada 565.
Cheers

I have seen this happening when TomTom was open during a soft reset. Obviously some of the open (for writing) files get lost during that. Try not to do a soft reset while TomTom is running (i know, sounds silly) _________________ Lutz

I have had this trouble for a couple of months now, after running the software for a year or more.
Of course I often have to do a soft reset while TTN is running because it hangs so often, but I used to do that before.
I think it might have something to do with read errors on the memory card, might I tried another card and it didnt help much. Perhaps the new card is bad too. |

In the last week the exact same thing has started to happen to me too. Very annoying - no idea why it does it or what I should do to stop it happening I'm afraid. |

TonyP - I'm running TTN2 from internal memory, so my problem isn't to do with memory card errors.
Seems odd that so many people are seeing this problem only recently... Could it be a 2.24 issue? |

It appeared to surface in 2.20, this was when we first noticed it. I've only had it happen once luckily.
There is another issue which many do experience which is where they don't exit TomTom Navigator and it's running in memory, and if they perform a soft reset, none of the new favourites that have been added have been written out to memory because TomTom only does a permanent save on exit. |

I had this happen a few times, and then I figured out what was causing it (for me anyway).
It appears to lose settings/favourites if you run 2 instances of TomTom at the same time. This tended to happen when I was impatient, i.e. tapping the TT2 icon a second time because I thought it had not registered the first time I did it. You then end up with 2 instances running.
I figured the first instance grabbed the settings and favourites files and prevented the second instance from opening them, thereby having to create a virgin set, which would overwrite the correct set when you close the applications (?).
I came up with two fixes:
1) Be more patient before tapping the TT2 icon again
2) Make a copy of the settings and favourites files so that they can just be copied back if the originals get lost.
Since adopting (1) the problem has not reoccurred and I have not had to resort to restoring (2).
Hope this helps
Regards
Simon
