I have Tom Tom GO 700 with 5.4 version installed and am having all sorts of problems getting Capture to work correctly . When I come to viewing the captured cameras (imaginary) in the western map folder I have a file called pocketGPScameras but no ov2. When I click on this file I get a page stating Choose the program you want to use to open this file ??????????? the file is actually named PocketGPScameras. POI Binary.1 K.B. The folders stated in your download instructions seem to be correct, what am I doing wrong ??? please |

Do you have V5.420?
The ov2 File is a Binary File. Have you got File Extensions Hidden? Use Folder Options to Uncheck the Option to Hide Extensions of known File Types.
It can be read by POIEdit. _________________ Richard

Should the PocketGPScameras.ov2 file be in the POI Capture Folder or in the Western Europe folder ??
I don't remember it being in the POI Capture folder to start with?
Not that this will help much as it's not working at the moment.

In my experiance, which is VERY limited, the cameras ov2 file will only appear after a camera 'capture' real or false and it apperas in the western europe folder. It does not appear in the POIcapture folder at all. |

POI Files always appear in the Map Folder.
The PocketGPSCameras.ov2 is an empty File (as downloaded), so could be found in the Map Folder, but if it is empty nothing will show on the Map. _________________ Richard

Tx for your replies Richard & Woodchip.
Well this has me beaten, It certainly wasn't there when I downloaded POI Capture, but I have done one "Test" capture since installing, and thats when it appeared, but I'm confused how it got in the POI Capture Folder rather than the Western Maps folder.
So should I copy and Paste it into my Western maps do you think?? _________________ Steve

Hi. Steve,
I'll leave that one to the experts but certainly when I downloaded the Capture programe the file was not in the POI Capture folder and did not appear untill I did a first camera capture and then it was in the western maps folder, Colin |

Tx WoodChip, I'll wait for some more comments before I make any decisions on it, but in the mean time, I'm hoping someone will look at my other posts and just get the darn thing working for me!!
I may just remove it and start again..... _________________ Steve

Yes I did...
Version 1.03G.5.420 Zip is whats on my PC.....
Don't suppose you know the answer to this?
If I remove POI Capture from my PC and from my GO, what will happen to my menus as I have moved them around using the tomtom.mnu...
The last thing I want to do is remove it and then find my menus have gone missing/astray! _________________ Steve

You can always store your customised mnu File in a Safe Place on your PC.
Have you tried just copying the ov2 file to the Map Folder and then seeing if there are any Locations listed in it?
Incidentally the ov2 file is in the POICapture Folder when downloaded and Unzipped. _________________ Richard

good thinking Richard, thanks!

HOWEVER... heres a strange one, theres no Icons Folder in the POI Capture Folder in that back up that I did after installing it (3 days ago), yet theres one in the POI Capture Folder on my Go??!!
Think it's back to square one for me.... _________________ Steve

Most of my system seems to be working now except that after disconnecting from the comp. everything works and I can click on an imaginary camera and it records it in the ov2 file and I can then delete it from that file and do this over and over again. I can turn the Go off and reboot it and things still work, but after an unknown amount of time when I click on the camera icon to record a target it reverts back to the map screen and yes that is with a full sat signal. I only have to reconnect to the comp. not even do anything with it but after disconnecting again it will work again !!!! any answers please |
