Advice on new sat nav unit (Any help appreciated)

Hi fellow gps users. I need to purchase an all in one sat nav unit this week (10th-16th apr 2006). I can spend up to £300ish. I would like good speed camera detection, good signal as I have a new scenic with a thicker windscreen. I would also like a via or route planner option as I often visit 5 or 6 places. Bluetooth speaker would be nice too. Nice large screen (3.5" plus) and a more conpact design (so I can carry it with me) plus poi add ons etc.

So far I have spent a few hours looking and I think the tomtom one and muvi 300 look like good options, also the mio 269+ as opposed to a tomtom 700 which I was going to buy (little bulky, worse reception). I'd like one of the new go's (510etc) but cant wait a few months. Any pricier systems that are on sale/offer within my price would be great.

Is there any all in one unit that could be used whilst walking (lake district etc using ordnance survey type maps), this is less important.

I'd really appreciate any advice from anyone with more knowledge of the current models

ok for walking you might be better off going for a pda with built in gps or a pda with a bluetooth reciver as with somthing like a tomtom on nuvi you wont be able to get walkig maps for them

these are some ideas ive picked out as you want to use it for walking as well with having the car you have any sirf3 gps receiver is a must as these are known to be able to get a sat lock behind these windscreens

Thanks for the reply. I'd rather not have a pda option, too many wires and I dont need a pda. I think I'll forget about the walking mapping and concentrate on the best all in one for the price (£300 ish).

with a cradle you would have 2 wire at the most with someing like a holux236 you could get 6 or so hours out of it soe only one wire

I think I'll go for a tomtom one, it seems the best for the price, cheers chucks
