Beginner Needs Help Bt 77

Hi
I'm new to this whole GPS area
Have been given a BT77 by a friend and a copy of Dell Navigation on an Ipaq
Trying to get them to work
Can establish bluetooth link ok on ipaq but no data ever flows over it...
downloaded nct lite to seperate laptop and did bluetooth pairing again but still cant seem to get anything out of the bt77
Opened it up and reset the internal battery.

So my question is how do you get something out of the Bt77...Is there a particular speed/port combination that works...is there any diagnostic I can do to get something out of it....how can you tell if those factory reset and other types of reset that come out of nct lite are actually being seen and responded to by the bt 77

it should work on 4800 baud. are you sure its not just faulty?
