As I was playing with my Pocket PC earlier today, the thought occured to me that it has Bluetooth; my question is, is there any way to get the two of them to talk? Specifically, I'd like to use the 300 as a receiver for the PDA. There are a lot of nifty programs out there for the PPC; I'd read on one of these posts that you could telnet into the 300, and somewhere else that it streams NMEA information? When I try to sync the two, they find each other just fine . . but the TomTom says that it doesn't have the proper settings or something to that effect. Anyone have an idea?

yes, you would need to write a GNU c++ program that would emulate a bluetooth receiver on the GO (and offer the SPP service) . technically possible but definitely not mainstream. Good luck anyhow.

Holy crap, I have no idea what you just said. But I know how to use Google. Smile Seriously though, I figured someone would've thought to put the two together . . . maybe I should just look into a bluetooth receiver . . . thank you for your reply!

..why would they? If you buy an all in one GPS unit, generally its because you dont want the hassle of connecting up multiple devices to get GPS working. Plus it would be expensive, as you would be buying a £250 bit of kit to do the job ofa £25 unit ( a GPS receiver only). Even if you just wanted to get a bit of extra info that the TT didnt provide, for £25 and a known interface, better to buy a receiver rather than hack into the TT.

Original point was that I wanted to know if it was possible without hacking. I'm the type of person that likes everything talking to everything else, and it's been my experience that the TomTom doesn't always know where it's going. Kind of disappointing after shelling out that much money; also disappointing that it doesn't have the connectivity. I'd like to have a second opinion sometimes.

A separate BT GPS is so cheap nowadays it is hardly worth the hassle.

If you are unhappy with it, a better plan might be to sell it, and buy a receiver plus software and maps for the PDA. Which also wont be perfect, since there is no such thing as perfect maps or perfect routing algorithms.

But better that than two devices, because when you got conflicting instructions, how would you know which way to go?
