I've noticed an inconsistency. Sometimes when I approach a roundabout the first voice prompt tells me "In .9 Miles enter Roundabout and take 3rd Exit" then the next prompt does the same (obviously the distance has changed). Other times though it just tells me "In .9 miles enter Roundabout" for the first prompt then more detail on the secong prompt. Is there anyway to consistantly do this the first was as it gives you more notice to get into the correct lane?

This is a situation, where I tend to have a quick glance at the map - because this is often where the map shows enough of the junction / roundabout to have an idea.

But I agree, generally, this is possibly where the small screen of the i3 can be a little bit of a disadvantage.

Thanks Lester, This isn't a screen size issue, just a prompting issue.

I get what you mean - and the timing of voice prompts is improved in the current beta version of the i3's firmware.

What I meant, though, is envisaging the scenario, where you are leaving a motorway on a long sliproad, with big complex roundabout at the end of it.

The distances may mean that the rounadbout and the exit aren't fully shown yet, and that a further voice prompt will tell you what to do nearer the roundabout.

The timing of voice prompts is likely to be derived from the speed rating of the road - I don't recall experiencing the timing being related to the speed I'm driving. So for these scenarios, you're always going to have the directions being given a reasonable distance out.

What I was suggesting, is that for complex junctions, you tend to glance at the map to get a handle on which lane would be best, but in some scenarios, the distances involved, the screen size, and the dynamic zooming might not have caught up in time to get an ideal choice of lanes on approach. It's that scenario, I'm suggesting, can highlight the minor disadvantage of the i3's screen size.
