Spoken instructions question

It looks like this forum should be called the i3 forum but that's not what I have a question about. I saw a commercial by Garmin and it looked like they were using a StreetPilot 300 series. When it gave a turn instruction it simply said " turn left on Alder street" but did not indicate the distance to the turn. I would like to know if this is how the device actually works or if they cut out the distance indicator for the commercial. My question is, what do you hear as you approach your next turn? Do you hear "turn left on Alder in 100 yards" or do you just hear "turn left on Alder"? If there's a video of a Garmin device in use I'd love to see what actually happens. Thanks.

I believe you will get "Turn left on Alder Street in 100 yards" when you are 100 yards from the the turn and "Turn left on Alder Street" when you are about to make the turn.

My i3 says simalar but without the street name as it has no "Text to voice" facility.
