I'm thinking of getting one of these (with Co-Pilot), but my wife has hearing problems and I need something that is both clear and fairly loud. Any comments?

Thanks

Doug

Hi Doug.

I use one of these with TTN5 s/w which is great by the way..
I find the voice very clear and there are lots more you can download to find one that suits best both male and female.
Mine is loud enough if you haven`t got the radio on but different s/w may have voices sampled at different volumes.
The only way to be sure is to try one before you buy.

See if any of the vendors of these units offer such a service where you could visit and test before commiting.

Also another device I use in car for my MP3 music player is a very small transmitter which plugs into where the earphones go. This way the sound come through your car radio system and the sound is fully controlable for tone volume etc, this may be another solution for you. These are approx £10 and available from ebay.

Hope this helps
Adrian

Doug

If I'm not mistaken the A201 is bluetooth enabled. I think this means a bluetooth headset could be worn and I assume that the voice would play through a bluetooth headset (about £20-30) which might increase its usability for your wife. Unfortunatly the 168 I have hasnt got bluetooth so I cant check for you.

Thanks. I'm still thinking about TomTom -- I gather it reads out street names?

And the Axim 51. But TomTom is still Windows Mobile 3 and I really want 5.
