I'm assuming that the TTS engine in the new TTG 910 will be able to cope with switching between different languages. In other words, I'll still be able to switch to French or to German, and the TTS engine will render spoken instructions convincingly in those languages.
My concern then is that if I'm using the 910 to navigate around Wales using UK English, that it will try to use UK English rules to attempt [inadequately] to pronounce Welsh place names?
This problem arises when navigating in a country, but having the instructions read out in a different language - e.g. instructions in French while driving in Germany.
Any comments? _________________ Geraint

AIUI it will use the chosen language for the guidance and the map country language for the pronunciation of road and town names.
How this works in practice we shall have to see! And how it pronounces LlanfairPG is going to be interesting!! That's probably 2.5GB of the 4GB TTS files consume!! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Am I right in thinking that celebrity voices are a thing of the past with TTS?
Does it still involve recording voices or is it all digital? _________________ Thanks,

I don't know but I'd doubt it will be the end of custom and or celebrity voices. _________________ Darren Griffin |
