I've noticed this on a few occasions but particularly this morning...

When I try to attach the TT1 suction mount to my windscreen first thing in the morning, it can be almost impossibly hard to 'click' the switch thing over to the right. However, if I wait a bit and try again, it is suddenly MUCH easier.

My theory is that it gets easier because either the suction bit on the mount (which I usually leave in the glovebox overnight) or the windscreen has warmed up a bit. Could that be right?

Has anyone else found this or is this just me being particularly feeble first thing in the morning?

You are right. The suction cup doesn't like the cold. I warm mine up under my arm for half a minute and it solves the problem.

Keep it in the house (the mount that is), its much easier this way as the heat you loose transfering from house to car is minimal and the big benefit is the low lifes can't find anything to steal in the glove box should they break in to the vehicle - Mike

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, I'll be keeping the mount in the house from now on.

I have also found that if you attach the suction cup to the screen on a cold morning it will pop off later on when the screen heats up. I assume this is because whatever air is left under the sucker expands as it gets warmer and it loses the suction. Be ready to catch it when it does!

I thought it was just me having that problem. Having sucessfully driven up to Inverness from Dorset on Sunday (12th), and removed my unit for security, could I get it to stick. No. So I warmed it up inside my jacket and left the TTG on the dash on a non slip mat until it eventually stuck. It stayed in place all the way back yesterday, a good 1260 mile test in 2 days. A great bit of kit when the tempeture is more Spring like.
