Help please, from a newbie.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this and, I warn you all, I'm a total plank when it comes to computers!! I have just bought a Garmin StreetPilot i3, secondhand, off Ebay. It was preloaded with the Speed Camera software but it tells me that a 30mph zone is 17mph, 50mph is shown as 37mph. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to correct this?
As I've said above, I'm a computer "plank" so I don't even know how to download the POI stuff, although I presume that it is loaded on my i3 because it tells me where the local restaurants etc are. I'd never even heard of Pocket GPS World before I went on the Garmin site!! I've been reading some of the posts on here and, to be honest, they go straight over the top of my head!! Any assistance in "plain English" would be very much appreciated. Many thanks
