Hi
I have TTN5 PPC2003 I'm off to the USA for the first time with a new job and want to take TTn5 with me, I don't want to buy the USA maps until I have see that they have all the detail I want / need so a friend has given me a CD with the state map on it that I need for this trip and I have added it to the SD card \thestate-map but I can not see it in TTN5 under switch map! (have tried softreset and editing CurrentMap.dat)
The TTN5 is full legal and if the trip goes OK I will be buy the full USA maps but in the meantime how do I get the one state map to work also its only 17.8MB would that be correct? he said it was ttn5, it contains 11 files.
Any help please? |

His map is probably not v5. As of TTN5.100 you cannot open v4 maps any more. _________________ Lutz

Depending on when you got the legit. version of TT5 you may have the original 5.0? If so 5.0 will open V4 maps. I travelled to Florida last year and had to uninstall 5.1 and install 5.0 to get the Florida map to work.
Hope this helps. |

566 is a v5 map. So there should be no reason for your TTN 5.x not to see that map. _________________ Lutz

OK down graded to 5.1. still no Map other map seen.
Copyed on two other maps still not visable
Am I missing a step? do I need to tell tomtom that there are other maps?
If i install the spanish map from the cds that came with TTN5 all it can see that ok!?
I'm just copying on the map folder to the root of the SD card then going into tt and switch map. |

OK now down to V5.0 I can see the maps! however it wants a activation code. well I guess this answers my question is worth getting tomtom 5 USA, NO it will only work with an old version of there software! a friend has a device with Navigon V5 I think loaded he has offer to swap with me for the trip any views?
Is this Navigon good or should I buy TTN 5 maps or some other product? |

I got my Florida map to work last November but had to downgrade to V5.
However, when I got there, the car rental place gave me a car with sat nav in it, so I did not use it anyway!!! _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

I have a similar problem to I_need_help
I've bought a new Mio A201 and TomTom 5. The A201 runs MS Mobile 5.
Now I installed TT perfectly, and it worked for about a week. But the day my new 2GB SD card arrived (that was going backup TT onto) TomTom crashed (could have been MSM5 crashing... bleh).
Anyway, I went ahead and backed up the contents of the TomTom SD card, which incidently is all I got in the package, as its the GB_plus map.
I put the new SD card in my Mio and, oh dear, it won't work. Checked the contents, and realised it was only 117mb when it should have been 230ish. So I checked my original TT card, and (f**k) it also oly has 117mb on it. I put the original back in the Mio and (of course) it wont boot into TomTom.
After checking the files it turns out that the cline.dat file has magically dissapeared from the original SD Card.
Turns out it is not just a matter of getting another Cline.dat file from another GB_plus card. I got hold of another Cline.dat one and it still won't work. I can only assume it's specific version of the Map.
The details from the pna file are:
ID=Great_Britain_Plus.pna
1717873819
631
id=28025
Anyone know how I can get hold of the map without shelling out to TomTom support? |

Me again...
Anyway I managed to get TomTom working again. Although I am now running a standard GB map instead of the GB+ map.
I managed to get hold of a version 605 GB map, and that made the difference. TomTom would see it on the SD card and even allowed me to use my reg card to authorise it instantly through the internet connection.
This actually worked, for 1 run of the application. Then it would not load up again (doh).
I have now resolved the problem with a slight resource modification (wink wink nudge nudge). TomTom now runs every time as expected. Whew! |
