I got my new PDA and TTN5 Bluetooth on Friday and have been playing around with it this weekend.
Noticed that the map version is shown as: Great_Britain v605
Is this the most up-to-date as I have seen other versions referred to on here.
And if it's out of date, how can I update (hopefully for free as I just purchased it).
Thanks |

It all depends on when the supplier purchased the tomtom unit i suppose. As far as I know, you can't upgrade for free. Updates are 59.95 Euros and they are available from the tomtom website.
I don't think that your map is out of date though. Different maps have different numbers. I use the GBPlus map and this version number is v571.
There won't be a major difference between updates though, IMO.
I will be waiting for the speculated V6 to come out towards the middle of the year which will include the up to date maps (and last year the upgrade from 3 - 5 was 59.95Euros (I think)??? _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, the GB maps were not why I bought this. I have factory-fitted sat nav in the car. I bought it for trips to the US (need to buy the maps still) and for those occasions when i am without my car.
That said though, I would have still expected the latest updates down to the smallest revision to be available for download to those who purchase an out-dated version.
Even if they are only small insignificant (in most circumstances - though they do revise for a reason of course) revisions, if the true version is much higher than what I have bought then I feel I have been sold an 'old' product. And if it is true that TT will not update the maps for free in these circumstances that I feel conned.
I got mine from Amazon incidentally. |

If I remember correctly there are 2 parallel version number sequences, one for Great_Britain and one for Great_Britain_Plus. I think that v605 is the latest Great_Britain, but v632(?) is the latest Great_Britain_Plus. These maps have the same UK content but the Plus also has "Major Roads of Europe".

This is true, I understand where you are coming from, but I don't think that Tomtom will give you updated maps for free. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

My spelling is getting worse, and the lack of an edit function doesn't help :D :D :D |

Absolutely, and if you post at the exact same time, it can get confusing as well! _________________ -------------------------------------------------------
