Just been trying some routes demos using limited speed from my house to some local places and I keep seeming to get the same results as if I used shortest route, anyone found this option useful??

I tried it once, because we tow a caravan I used the limited speed option, TomTom did provide some interesting alternatives. Unfortunately I wasn't brave enough to use the routes, as I was worried I would be taken down some tight, narrow lanes, no good with a caravan on the back |

It's only function appears to be to give you a revised ETA, and the opportunity to view our wonderful countryside, from the inside. _________________ Richard

Never really given it a thought. I can understand caravan towers using this option but apart from that, I can't really see any use for it! _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

All it does is limit any road, that has a faster allocated speed than your 'set speed', to have that same timing.
In practice, it will take you on a straighter route using smaller roads, and the perceived speed of Motorways and fast Dual Carriageways has removed their advantage.
The use of lower class roads then puts the Larger Vehicles at a disadvantage by taking them down smaller roads. _________________ Richard

Sounds like the guy who got his lorry suck recently near Saltash in a small out of the way village and took hours to reverse out, just makes me think the settings of this feature should the other way around, ie: minimum speed instead of maximum...

Same as Shortest route then, just a different ETA time as mentioned above.

As a truck driver I use limited speed on a regular basis. It does the opposite of what you would expect it to do. It uses the best possible road to get to a destination and only takes you off A roads and M'ways at the last point possible. It will take you round a destination to the far side to keep you on a M'way, so using minor roads for the least possible distance. _________________ Alan |
