Darren, these phpbb forums are a nightmare for listing images until you get the hang of it, might I suggest that if you are going to post an image, always preview your post before sending it, just to see if the image is shown or not.
try again, lets see your splash... |

Never seen the way that robbrady is suggesting, but basically, you cannot "post" an image to the forum, you have to upload it to some webspace you have access to (e.g. your free space that you usually get from your ISP).
Then you add a link to where the forum can find it, and my normal way is to use the "Img" button at the top of the 'post a reply' box....
Click on "Img", type the link to where you stored the pic. then click on "Img" again to finish, and you should end up with this line of text:
[omg]http://www.myspace.com/mypicture.jpg[/img]
(I had to put an "o" instead of an "i" there to stop it trying to add a nonexistant image)
If I remember correctly, you can only post .jpg or .gif format pictures, NOT .bmp.
This means that to show off your splash screen you need to re-save your splash.bmp as a .jpg (in your paint program) before you upload it.[/img] |

Simply use Imageshack free image hosting. They will also support the .BMP format. Size limit ~1MB.

That it might, but this forum won't show them!
Only Gifs and Jpgs will show up. |

This is true. But to explain, anyone can host their .BMP creations without hassle and conversion (which I though was the goal) but if anyone wants to use them as .BMP they will need to follow the link back to Imageshack, download the image, open in their image editor and "save as" .BMP. Small price to pay for someone elses work. |

Dont think I made that clear.
To explain further if you upload a .BMP to imageshack a link is created for you to post back into the forum thus allowing you to post your .BMP splash easily. Your splash WILL be visible in your post in the forum (.PNG format). If anyone wanted to use the splash, they would have to follow the link back to the .BMP stored at Imageshack as described earlier.
...wish I could edit. |
