|
|
Well my first today with my Nuvi 350 today and I'm very impressed however I have got one small problem which I'd like to address. I have updated the firmware to V 2.90 and downloaded the POI database OK. I've noticed that when I hit Settings - Traffic all my stored settings seem to revert back to default ie. Time Zone goes from London to US Central and language reverts to US English. Am I doing something wrong or is this a fault ? |

Not 100% sure, but this is the first time I've noticed my setting reset when updating the Garmin Nuvi, and I've updated each time since v2.2
Maybe it is just more of a major update...? |

Thanks for the reply, do your settings reset when you hit the Traffic button too ? |

Sorry, I don't have the additional Traffic module, so have never tried this. Would have thought this would be a serious flaw if this is the case, try Garmin Support (usually same or next day reply) at http://www.garmin.com/contactUs/techSupport.jsp |

Thanks again for the reply. I dont have the additional module either but we still have the 'Traffic' option under settings, my settings reset if I hit the 'Traffic' button. It aint a problem cause I wouldnt use the 'Traffic' option unless I had the module, but I certainly wouldn't consider buying the module if I was having my settings reset everytime I wanted to use it. If you know what I mean. |

Maybe (and I am just guessing...) it is because we don't have the Traffic installed, it is causing this problem
Perhaps a Nuvi user with a Traffic module can answer... anyone out there yet with this?
If so, your opinions on this - and how the Taffic module performs...! |

the 'traffic' option shouldn't show up unless you have one connected. just like if there are no custom poi's you don't get the custom poi option in the 'my places' category...
something fishy going on...

Have just looked, and no "Traffic" option on mine (v2.9), so something is obviously happening with yours! Try re-installing 2.9 ? |

Thanks for all the replies guys. Have tried re-installing V2.90 and the 'Traffic' option is still there under settings. When i press traffic it tells me to connect the traffic device, I click OK and all my settings revert back to default ? Under settings I have 9 boxes ( Map, System, Time, Display, Navigation, Language, Traffic - then 2 blank boxes ). Garmin website does indicate that version 2.90 moves Traffic to settings, as below :-
Changes made from version 2.80 to 2.90:
Updates for language translations.
Audible book player improvements.
City Searcher now crosses map boundaries.
## Moved traffic setup to settings page ##
Removed zoom legend from map page.
Removed restriction of only being able to install Oxford data once from an SD card.
Fix to separate custom POI from SaversGuide.
Fix to ignore Macintosh resource files in JPG viewer & MP3 player.
Fix for route line display on map.
Fix for screen corruption after using Calculator.
Fix to handle JPG pictures with large memory requirements |

Sorry to be a nag ! but I've found someone else with the same problem on a different forum, he says of version 2.90 :
" Have already discovered a small error, which is not tragic, but is nevertheless wrong...
If one goes into the system menu and clicks Traffic and after it leaves the Traffic menu, the Nuvi is adjusted to US English.
Greeting
Fabian "
Glad it aint just me, thought I was going mental |

I have the same problem too...have emailed garmin for confirmation.
All settings are reset to default when you select traffic.
Always nice to know someone has the same problem.

I have spoken to Garmin technical support who confirmed that this was normal with the 2.90 update. |
