This idea just hit me.

Heres the thing: I really need a speaker or something for my mobile(which has bluetooth) for when i drive (i don't like bluetooth headsets).
The TT 500 offers the option to act as a bluetooth reciever but not the TT ONE.
As the TT ONE already has bluetooth (for traffic etc), I was wondering whether you could just upgrade the TT ONE software to the one used in TT 500 and hey presto! I have a TT One WITH a bluetooth reciever for my mobile so I can make and recieve calls!

Can this really work???

Don't forget that you also need a microphone. All sorts of things are generally possible with a knowledge of electronics and a soldering iron. A software solution though is probably not possible... for a start the GO software doesn't work on the ONE (I've tried it).

Well a microphone is easy to fit....

The problem is getting the already present bluetooth to work with my mobile to receive calls... Sad
Why have the technology and not use it?
There must be a way of getting the mobile and TT one to talk to each other SadSadSad There has to be!!!

It would require an update to the bluetooth stack in the ONE.

It currently has a data service to pass the Plus services from phone to TTOne. It would also need to carry an Audio Service for the phone to recognise it as an audio device.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I don't think a simple software update will do it.

don't forget that also the ONE's processor is not powerfull enough to handle handsfree phone calls (same reason GO300 can't do handsfree )

I rearlly doubt that 20Mhz is going to make a great deal of difference when it comes down to implementing it.

It would require a software update to emable the Audio Gateway part of the Bluetooth Stack and it would most likly be possible with some way of then connecting a microphone but it would require a core update of the firmware whihc would most likly have to be wirrten by and flashed to by Tom Tom. This is unlikly to happen as now the ONE has proved itself the chances are TomTom has a ONE style device with Handfree in the works,
