Hi guys,
I'm a first-time poster here, but have been reading these forums for a while and you have helped me solve several problems! Unfortunately, after a good search about I can't see any reference to my current particular problem...
I have an O2 XDA IIi with TomTom v5.210 and a Holux GM210 wired GPS 'mouse'. TomTom will start fine and navigate for a couple of minutes, then the screen goes blue and I get 'No GPS device!' for 2 or 3 seconds, then it will work for another few minutes and do the same! It doesn't sound like a big problem but you can easily miss turn-offs and it's driving me around the bend (Quite literally sometimes)!
I was having this problem just before I manage to kill my phone and get a replacement so it's not the phone as it happens on both old and new.
It also can't be the GPS reciever as I have had the same problem with a Holux cradle with built-in GPS. Has anyone experienced anything similar who can give me some advice?
Sorry for the long post!
Cheers

Right.. I've been doing some investigation and wierdly it's the sound that kills it. When I switch the sound off it works with no problems.
Has anyone else experienced similar or have any suggestions how I might be able to resolve?
Cheers! |

Hi all,
Having looked again this morning I have worked out what is causing the problem. I have a wired handsfree and GPS kit (This one). It appeared to be the same problem with my previous GPS reciever but I think it was actually different. With this kit, when TomTom makes a noise, eg. a direction or POI warning, a relay flicks on in the car kit to play the sound over its speaker. When the sound has finished the relay flicks off again. TomTom comes up with no GPS device approx 3 seconds after the relay flicks off. This consistently happens EVERY time. I have come up with a solution for the time being. I have created an MP3 of nothing (ie. 10 seconds of silence) and set it playing in media player on repeat. This forces the relay to stay on all the time therefore no switch off of the relay and no error. It ain't perfect as it means there is a slight hiss of the speaker and the mic is also on all the time. Does anyone have any better ideas? Cheers. |

Sounds to me like the car kit unit is faulty. How long have you had it? Why not send it back. I can recomend the Parrot 3300 combined BT kit, which I have got, which does not have this problem at all. And it works through the car audio system, so that the radio mutes if I get a sat nav sound or a phone call. _________________ Peter

it will be the wired receiver there was a manufacture process change for the xda2i which messed up the units ability to use a wired receiver
one other thing that does mess up tt5 ont the 2i is o2 active make sure this removed and use as corperate install if the corperate doesnt work try switching to a bluetooth reciver _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone.
