|
|
Hi,
Day one as a member so please bear with me. I have a TOM TOM Go and recently installed the camera database as described in this site which works fine. I have also set warning bells on the approach to POI (in my case all cameras).
I'd really like to replace the bells and animal noises with a verbal warning telling me the individual speed limit being enforced by each camera on my approach to it. i have seen the link to the 'verbal warning' download on this site but can anybody explain to me whether it is simply an option I can select on a camera by camera basis as i drive around(very tiresome) or is there a download that will allow me to install warnings for all different speed limits nationally in one go?? If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
Please help! Martin23[/b] |

Hi Martin23, welcome onboard.
Data.chk is the file that contains the 'sounds' for POI Warning. The alternative data.chk files can be found here.
Be aware that the files are Version specific so you need to be sure which Version you have and use the correct download. The wrong one and the GO freezes!!
If you want to know more about warning sounds, try http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/ where you will find details of Extended POI Warning alerts. _________________ Richard

I agree with oldboy. I am using Liz's voice from this site for both directions and camera warnings and it is much better than the standard TT voices. _________________ Peter

thanks to both of you for replying but there is one thing i still dont understand (forgive me if this is obvious!)....
What i want to do is have the TOM TOM warn me verbally that "30MPH camera ahead" or "40 MPH camera ahead" so i know what the speed limit is..... is this possible with the voice options i have added???
Is the camera database THAT good that you only have to assign the correct warning to the correct camera type and TOM TOM takes care of the rest?????
Thoughts please.....

It is better than that, as it will not only tell you the speed of the camera but it will also tell you of the type, for example "Warning GATSO ahead speed limit is fifty miles per hour" or "Warning this is an averaged speed camera zone, speed limit is fifty miles per hour" - I use the Liz voices set using POIExetend in order to get around the TomTom 15 warning sounds, using POIExtend puts this figure upto 30, which if you are using all the sped zoned set-up you will need. - Mike |

This is great for most users, but what about us Palm users, how can we get this information spoken to us? _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

I like the idea I'm bossing you all around. The guy I work with on the radio says he likes Vicky better though! |
