Hi,
The home address is stored in the .cfg file named after the map, and in the map folder, e.g. Great-Britain-Map. A few people have reported the read only attribute becoming set when using a card reader. A test is to rename/delete the .cfg file, when TT will (try to) create a new one (but all your previous settings will be lost).
However, another possibility is the SD write protect "switch", which is only a simple mechanical slide, read by a sensor in the PPC. This can be be slightly out of alignment in some PPCs making it impossible (perhaps intermittently) to write to the card. In my case, I "fixed" the problem by simply sticking a small piece of Cellotape over the SD "switch" (rather than return the whole PPC for "repair").

Why not just remove the read-only flag...?

Hi Mathew,
Yes that's what I usually do, using Tascal Explorer directly on the PPC. But not all PPC file-handling Apps. allow you to view or change the file attributes.
Also, the Read-Only Attribute doesn't take into account whether the whole card is Write-Protected (intentionally, or otherwise) by the "switch".
