|
|
If this query has been raised before, please accept my apologies and point me in right direction. I already have a Classic GO loaded to op system 5.420 and Latest Map v571. I have just acquired a second, hardly used, like new, TomTom Classic Go for my wife's motor. My v571 map is from my Coche 'Maps of Western Europe' Cds. Now the 6 million dollar question - Before, I suffer possible disappointment, does anyone know if the Tomtom site will supply an activation code for the newer Maps on a second unit ? Or will I have to purchase a second load of maps ? |

Technically it is possible to load the Maps on the second GO.
However (there always is), it would break the terms of the EULA. 1 Map = 1 Device.
It would also mean that you would lose 1 of your Activations chances. This might be a problem in the future.
It's not something that is condoned on the Forum. _________________ Richard

hi
the tomtom maps will go on every tomtom
you will however need an activation code for every single tomtom that you put them on, and you only get the chance to change your device code twice, so you will loose the chance to put the maps on a new tomtom if your old one breaks and needs replacing
tomtoms user agreement states that you must only have the maps installed on one unit at a time therefore it is against the user agreement to put them on 2 tomtoms at the same time
tomtom will not sell you an activation code so you can use it on your wifes, they insist you purchase the maps again which will be exactly the same with a different product code. i found this out because i have usa maps on mine and my mother and auntie had to buy their own maps with a different product code. all 3 of us have the same map version, if we swap sd cards the maps work without having to put in a new activation code because my activation code allows me to use maps of usa
my advise to you would be to have the maps on your tomtom and if your wife needs the maps swap your tomtom with hers. remembering that the go classic and go 300/500/700 have different cradles for the windscreen mount

Many Thanks for your responses. Common sense was telling me Tomtom had imposed a licencing restriction like this, but i guess the ever hopeful idiot in me ....................say no more, thanks again. |
