Dear all,

I have a little issue with my car at the moment where the speedo is undereading slightly. I have been told that this is probably not going to be able to be fixeddue to the cars conversion from KPH to MPH, but I am still trying none the less.

I was wondering if there is any dedicated software that I can install on my PDA / GPS device (Mio A201 with Tom TOm Nav 5 software) that will display the current speed in MPH in a much bigger and bolder way.

Basically the TomTom software does display the speed, but it is in a really tiny font in the bottom left of the screen and its not clear enough for me to glance at to check my speed. I really need something bigger to help me out.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Many thanks

Dale

I use the GPSDash utility, you can have a full screen sized speedo if you want fed from the GPS, you can download an early version from here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=19 after this it became a chargeable application, its well worth having though. A small misread on the low side is quite normall, there are lots of posts detailing this on the site - Mike

Mike

Terms are getting a bit confused here. The speedo can "over-read" i.e show a speed faster than you are actually travelling, but AFAIK it is illegal for it to "under-read", i.e show a speed that is lower, which is what I think was originally reported

Peter, Many thanks for the correction - I did mean exactly what you put, but it could be confused I meant the vehicles Speedo is miss reading on the high side when relative to the GPS speed (GPS Speed = 30MPH, Speedo indicates less than this), or the other way of putting it is the GPS Speed is higher than that indicated by the Speedo - I have never yet found a car that reads spot on across its full speed range, its often interesting to see which ones are the worst offenders from the hire car fleet I use each week, technically my own Ovlov is illegal at 70 on the GPS the Speedo reads 67 (ish) so it is under reading but I don't use it for speed - its a novelty sat in the instrument cluster - Mike
