|
|
Hi there,
I have recently got the upgrade version of TT5 for my PDA.
My Brother in law has just got himself a secondhand Ipaq 2210 and wants TomTom as well.
I have only ever used TT3 on my PDA, and only activated the first time I installed.
Am I right in assuming that if I pass TT3 on to him as it's no longer needed, that he should be able to install it on his PDA without any problems?
Any advice would be great

Hi gadget_sa
It wont work. There is a difference between a new TT5 and TT5 upgrade. If you upgraded to TT5 your old TT3 program is dead and buried. When you went on line and activated the TT5 upgrade the old TT3 activation code was finished at Tomtom headquarters. I gave my old TT3 disk to my daughter and that’s what she later told me. If I am wrong then I feel sure that someone will reply to your query on this forum and put you on the right road. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi Trevor
Thanks for replying...
Shame it won't work for him, just means he'll have to fork out a few quid!!!
Bit naughty of TomTom in one way to tieupthese codes, but I guess they'd be ripped off left right and centre otherwise, although I feel if you have paid your dues, you should be able to get something out of it... especially if it was in the same household, like you and your daughter!!
C'est la vie
Thanks again _________________ Steve

That's correct, the upgrade cancels your v3 licence and any activation codes for v3 are nullified.
Not naughty really, you get a heavily discounted upgrade after all! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Is there still an upgrade path open somewhere as I was under the impression that it was closed? |

I believe the upgrade program has now ended. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well yes I agree in a way, the discount is great, but I just feel that if you can prove you have a second PDA (by way of receipt, make and S/N) then they should allow it to be used. After all we are showing loyalty!!
Guess I'll just have to lend him my PDA!! _________________ Steve
