Hi all, got my A201 today however probably should have done my research first because i see now about the problems. Has anyone managed to get 5.21 installed? i have endless different versions, people have said to use the update from tomtom website and that works but only the first time i run tomtom, the other times it just quits. As for my cracked versions, naughty i know. they are meant to work and do the same thing and quit. Any ideas? i am really running out of ideas now. Any any help appreciated, cheers, Alex |

What did you do to get it to work? the same procedure I used?
Are there any steps you can miss out.
I would still like to know how to get it to run using my valid tom tom code. |

I do not have TomTom but I found this article.
If you have not done so already please insert the SD card and go
through the full install procedure selecting "Yes" and using the
"Device" for install.
If after this point when you run TomTom you find that the program
flashes and then closes you need to do the following:
Goto "Start">"Programs" and select "File Explorer"
Select "My Device" from the drop down list and locate the "Program
Files" folder. Within this folder you will need to locate and open
"Navigator".
Inside this folder should be 3-4 files, you will notice a file called
"Navigator" which does not have the red TomTom hand logo next to it-
"Navigator.cfg"; Delete this file.
Now go back to open TomTom from the short cut on the main page.
You should find this now works.
When asked to activate the product please follow steps carefully
Do not activate product yet. press manual activate but at first DO NOT
activate the code with this an enter a fake code, i.e just enter one
letter.
At this point you will be shown a new device code. Visit www.ttcode.com
and activate the product with this device code and product code now
enter this code into the mio and you should find it sucessful.
If you are installing this using the Navigator 5 CD's of Western Europe
you will find you are able to install up until the point where you
choose a voice and then the program will crash.
You need to visit www.tomtom.com and download the tomtom 5.21 update.
Carry on the installation from here using the same activation guide as
detailed above. |

I also have a 201 and have had all of the above problems. However, I obtained a new activation code from tom tom via my retailer. The problem is now I cannot get tom tom to boot at all even after a master reset and re-install, twice. I'm coming to the conclusion that the 201 is a piece of brown sticky stuff and wish I'd stuck with my 168. Anyone got any other advice apart from sell the 201 on ebay? :x |

Send me your email address and you could try to copy over a config file. |

I also have a Mio A201 and I've tried deleting the navigator.cfg file and it works as I'm then able to setup TT5 and use it successfully.
However, if I close it down and then try to re-run it at a later time it does the same thing and I have to delete the .cfg file and re-enter all the setup files in order to get it work.
Anyone had the same problem ?
Incidentally, how do you do a Master reset ?
I've tried switching the little switch to off (behind the battery) but when I switch it back on it hasn't cleared anything.
Am I missing something ?

To do a full reset
Remove the battery and turn off for 1 minute.
Turn back on and insert the battery and lid while holding down the record button on the left of the A201. |
