sd card backup

I have just ordered a new 256 Mb card for use in the Tomtom 300.
When reinstalling the backup to this card can i copy the original backup
before I updated to Version 5.420 or do I have to use the backup file i did after updating tomtom .I dont Know if after updating to ver 5.4 if you can go back to the first version. Confused

If you did a backup before updating and a separate backup after then you can use either one to restore to your card.

thanks for the the reply Gazza.
I did a full backup Via the cd instructions when i first purchased tomtom but have never needed to re-install so i have no way of knowing if they work

As long as your map folder is safely backed up you can do the copy / transfer almost any way you want. The system software (incl older versions) is available for free download from TomTom and other sources.

I would just copy your latest version to the new card.

Thanks to everybody for the Help.
I have just recieved my new Toshiba 256 Mb Sd card Reinstaled Backupp with no problems using the last update .exe file ( This opperates just like putting the Original Cd in same menu options ) The only problem i could see which could cause a problem was that the backupp files had to be in the original folder ie.. C: mydoc/tomtom it did not find the other backup i had made on my Desktop no option to choose another location to backup from.
Hope this info is of use to somebody.
