|
|
I would recommend if you have recently bought a Go500 unit that you try and navigate to some small local villages as it would appear that a lot of data is missing from the 500 which is available on the 300.
An example of this is Navigate to "Leitholm" or "Greenlaw". Neither of these places exist on Go500 SD cards from 5 different TomToms (purchased and tested in Edinburgh) but both of these can be found on the Go300 (display model in PC World)
Unless the Go500 Map has fewer UK locations as it has the EU on it I suspect a serious issue with this latest batch (all tested units were from the Dixons/Currys/PC World chain and have only recently come into stock). These all have a tendancy to show EU locations over any UK location.
Please try this on your own units and post up if you to have problems.
Store staff are at a loss to explain this and a query has now been sent to TomTom.....

Did you check to see if they were all the same map version? And what that version was?
Map version can be discovered by Change Prefs/Show version. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

V605 is the flawed map.
Go300 Card with Map V571 works |

This is fascinating....
Maybe we are getting closer to why TomTom are so reluctant to advertise the map version numbers. There's V605, and there's V605, and there's V605...... all slightly different but they've committed the cardinal sin of not changing the version numbers each time? |

The 500 uses a Plus Map and the 300 just a GB map may explain it.
V632 (Latest GB Plus) has both places listed |

How would I upgrade to the latest Map version?
Seems very odd that all these places have been removed between releases. Have being playing with it for the last hour or so and happy to see all the villages and towns now showing (at the right zoom) on the Browse Map option. They are certainly not there on the original card.
Very odd that I have had to use an old map to make a new Go work and will let you know how Tom Tom reply.

my PDA is v562
Never thought to check it before and having looked at TomTom I can only find an option to buy the entire UK Map. |

mmmm - I might think about it if I could get an idea of what had actually been updated from version to version... bit like the speedcam db realy
doesn't even show what version it is, only TomTom PLUS - Map of Great Britain 59.95 euros
Anyway, I better be getting a working map from Tom Tom for free never mind having to buy something that may or may not be an update of what I already have... |

mmm. Even the old display model 300 that I have 'borrowed' is more up to date - I assume I could put this on my Ipaq? |
