I wonder if anyone has had problems picking up mobile phone messages thru' bluetooth/ TTG 700.
I have a 700 and a nokia 6230. bluetooth is enabled and phone calls in/out and messages out are fine.
However, when I recieve a text message (just something simple like 'test')
the TTG says it cannot receive it. Has anyone else had this problem? |

I have the 500 and a 6230 and it will both receive and send messages via the TT. The only function it does not seem to support is importing the phone contacts be they either on the SIM or phone memory.
I have also discovered that since upgrading to 5.202 there is an option to set the phone volume independent of the directions volume. When on a call another menu is available which allows the volume to be increased at 10% increments. Not sure at which software revision it was introduced but I found it by accident after upgrading the other day. To reach the menu during a call chose the mobile phone icon on the usual menu and it opens a different menu with the volume options on it. This was discussed as a "wishlist" feature on another thread a month or so ago - but I cannot find it just now. |

I've got the same SMS problem as you - noticed it today.
Wierd it works with a 500. I wonder what the difference is?
Has anyone got any ideas? _________________ Thanks,

Just set up my TT for tomorrows trip and guess what - I receive a text message on it.
You might think this is great? - oh no.
Not receiving TT Traffic now you have to laugh.
Posted a question as well - I'll post what I get back. _________________ Thanks,

Very strange. I have both a 700 and a Nokia 6230 and both the phonebook function and the SMS function work well. It may be down to the firmware of the phone rather than a problem with the 700??? |

Last time I had to contact Tom Tom support (~3 - 4 months ago) I got my enquiry answered the next day.
So, I don't know if they are extra busy, or this problem has them beat, but I haven't had an answer yet.
I am using a Nokia 6230 with 128 MMC card & v 5.35 firmware.

There was an article in the local newspaper here in which they explained why some Cellphone Operators (I think it was Verizon in this case) are disabling the cellphone's "exporting the phone contacts" featiure. The Cellphone Operator was providing "apps download" feature (of course paid) to their customers and they had to disable this bluetooth phone's feature as part of their contract with the app-content provider... Looks like they want to prevent people from beaming their apps to other bluetooth enabled phones. (I would have assumed that they would use some other technique to prevent apps from being shared... but I guess they took the easy way out)
So even customer with bluetooth enabled phones and bluetooth capable GPS's were not able to use the "importing the phone contacts" feature... and the cusomers were pretty unhappy. But Verizon wasn't gonna do anything about it. |
