|

Hi all,
I have just loaded the speed cam database and audible warnings - very good piece of software there :D
Unfortunately, in doing so, I seem to have inadvertently removed the POI files (relating to petrol stations, hotels etc.) and I have since tried to reset back to manufacturer settings to no avail.
Would it be at all possible for one of you kind folk to send me the missing file(s) so that I can reinstate my 300's abilities? or is there a download available on here I could use (a link would be great!) All that is listed for POI is the speed cam database and my softaware version is 5002 if that helps?
I only purchased the unit yesterday! 8) |

Hi Stampy
Sorry - I can't help with the POI files, but you must backup all the files on your SD card - do it now!!! A backup is not available on the CD that came with your TT and if you lose files / SD card fails, your backup is your only source of these files. |

I know
I am just hoping I haven't it up - it all runs fine its just that the only POI options are speed cams, evcerything else has gone!!
Would that relate to the download at all? Or a misssing POI file? |

bump.
I think I may have it sussed - a friend will give me his POI files from his 300.
Will that work ok, there won't be any incompatability issues? |

Backup first. It may possibly not work. I would only try copying over the missing files. The map files are tied to each TT unit so your friend's map files won't work on yours. Not sure about the POIs though. |

Ok I have now received some files to reinstate my POI applications.
Can anyone please tell me which files are the POI applications as I cannot distinguish which I need and I dont want to corrupt my TomTom with incorrect map files as stated above!
Any help is greatly appreciated :D
P.S I will remember to back up in future!! |

poi.dat - in your map folder should be the only file you need to reinstate the TomTom supplied categories. |

Make sure you have got Windows set up to show the file extensions (it isn't by default). |

Andy, could I be so bold as to ask you to send me the required file?

I would appreciate it greatly :D |

How many PoI categories have you loaded?
The TomTom software will only use the first 39 it finds. If you loaded all the speed cameras as speed zoned ones you will have about 12 spare for others.
You will see all the ov2 files you add on the card but the GO won't see the extra ones if you have too many. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

All I have is the speed zoned camera files and the voices for them.
I removed the original speed camera location files before I loaded these onto it -so I have UKspecs, gatso, temp and mobile files, plus the voices.
I cant see any alternative POI's other than the speed camera's I have loaded - hence I think I mayave inadvertently removed it when I originally put the database on |

I had the same thing happen to me today after loading the camera database last night, but they are still there & ticked but do not come up on the map while your moving, but after going to "manage POI" & then "warn when near POI" & set a sound to the pois they have all started to work but the downside is that you have to have a sound each time you pass or go near a POI ??????????? |

DOH !!!
After looking at a friends Tom tom go I notice that show POI was on my Tom tom one & hide POI with a cross through it on my friends, after changing this there they all are
I thought at a glance where it says show POI I thought it meant that POIs would be shown |
