Hi,
I have been using Tom Tom traffic etc.. with my BT Mobile personal and work phones via GPRS. I run a Samsung D500 and a nokia 6230 which have both worked well for some time with version 5.201 on my tom tom GO 700. I recently upgraded to 5.420 and it is now not possible to setup the wireless connection successfully. I have gone through the manual process as before specifying the APN, user name and password etc... When it tries to connect on the Nokia it says you must subscribe to GPRS first on the nokia, Wap is still working fine on my Nokia via GPRS and my d500. On the tom tom it just comes up with a blue screen saying it is unable to connect to the service at this time etc.. I have also tried it with my girlfriends 3 mobile phone and that doesn't work either. Anyone have any ideas??
I'm glad I backed up before the upgrade!
Cheers

I don't think the upgrade to 5.420 is the problem.
I have suceeded in using my Nokia 6230,and D500 with no hassles. |

Hi, I also had this problem,i am using a Nokia 6230i and mine said exactly the same "subscribe to GPRS First" its a pain in the arse , i am using vodafone, so i phoned them asking them what it ment and about £5.00 later after they kept me waiting on the phone they didn't know what i was talking about so well done Vodofone.
After asking on here a very kind guy came back with the answer which worked for me as follows.
APN...PP.Vodofone.co.uk.
User name.......User.
Password.........User.
Use Automatic..DNS.
Hope this Helps it workd for me but apologies if you have already tried it.Regards. |

reading this with great interest - as I am in the same boat:
I'm with BT Mobile (using Vodafone network)
and have tried for a week now to get TomTom Go500 to access the internet via my Samsung D500 but in never works!
NealB - i have not upgraded my TomTom software - still using 5.201 - which you say you had working with a Samsung D500 in the past. how? - what were your settings?? - i've tried many different settings on both phone and TomTom and it still wont work. BT Mobile are clueless, and worse still, so are TomTom.
phone can browse internet fine over GPRS so thats working, and also the TomTom works ok with the phone as handsfree via bluetooth so they are paired ok.
thanks in advance for any help. |
