I ve been using my back up card for months, but after trying a recent update, tomtom kept freezing. So I formatted the card (FAT) and copied the master card onto the pc, then onto the sd card. If i open the sd card on the pc all the files seem there, but TomTom gives the sd card with a red cross through it. I ve reread the beginners tips, but must be making the same mistake without identifying quite what, as i ve tried several cards, and done it a dozen times. What am i doing wrong!!
(works fine if i put the original card in TomTom)

Common problems seem to be:

Removing the USB lead before the icon on the GO screen has stopped flashing.

Just removing the card from a card reader without using "eject" or "safely remove" on the "right click" options.

On one occasion I had to reformat my card in my wife's Palm handheld as the PC was not doing it properly. Are there options for FAT / FAT 16/ FAT 32? If so, try the other one.

Your backup was a full backup of all the files on the card and not just a backup of your personal settings? The early version of the TomTom backup utility only backed up personal settings.
