You can only use the Postcode if you have upgraded to the V5 Maps. It is available in all V5.xxx software. _________________ Richard

Then you have no right to use the Postcode files. They are part of the Map Upgrades. MyTomTomGo has no right leaving that link there. _________________ Tim |

The link is not to any unauthorized copy of the postcodes, it's to Tomtom's website. The files are for use with new downloaded maps, where upon instalation a number of users reported the post code function was broken.

Dear TomTom customer,
We’re sorry to inform you that your downloadable map of UK and/or Benelux are missing the postal code information. We are currently creating new versions of these map files which will be made available soon for you to download from your map download page.
If you have already installed your map then please note that the same postal code information is also available as a separate download: |

Think you need to sort out your "professional" corporate view on this, as one of your own moderators is now posting a link to it in another thread. |

No-one is suggesting it's not but it is a copy of an email sent to a customer, I doubt very much that TomTom wanted those links broadcast in public as the data was only ever intended for owners of the updated map data. _________________ Darren Griffin |

squigles, if that is the case, I apologise.
Can anyone freely navigate to the file without actually knowing the name of the link? My understanding is that the link is emailed on a personal basis to users who have purchased the upgraded maps which didn't contain the zipfile, not that it is for general publication. _________________ Tim |

No they can't which is precisely the point. I have requested clarification from TomTom. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Have already done that Tomtom have stated;

Hi Squigles,
Yes, I noticed that link starting to spread on the forums. It was intended to be sent out solely to customers who had bought our new downloadable maps, as the postcodes had not yet been included in the map installer. In theory, only these customers are entitled to this data.
But to be honest, it's probably not worth jumping in and 'censoring' the thread. Let's just leave it. |
So technically the link was for access for a single user However no drama 8) |

In all fairness, The MyTomtomGo forum both Admin & Moderators take a very dim view of software theft etc. We do, before making assumptions check the validity behind a post especially where software etc is involved. If a post has a link to inappropriate files etc it is removed.

We make mistakes
