|
|
I have just been sold an unactivated TomTom One CD, SD card and product activation card on this site. It was sold as being compatible with TT One, Go and for a PDA. I am using the Orange SPV M2000.
Can anyone tell me whether this will work on my PDA before I open the SD card holder otherwise it will have to go back?
The chap said the Cd holds all versions of the program for all these machines.
Thanks

Bit confused here. Tom Tom One is a complete sat nav system, i.e. piece of hardware and matching software. If you want to use Tom Tom on a PDA then you need Tom Tom 5, which is just software. As far as i know the software is not exactly the same for TT One and TT5 and is not interchangeable.
Also as far as I am aware it is never sold together. You either buy the TT One complete with hardware and software or the TT5 software.
I suspect you may have bought copied software |

Sorry to bump this already but if this won't work on my SPV M2000, I need to return it for a refund. I bought this from the Pocketgpsworld for sale section.
The last thing I want to do is to open the SD card holder until I know it will work. The TomTom site splits the software up into phone, standalone and PDA. Will the CD cover all types?
Thanks

Sorry, Peter, was posting the other message.
It is not copied software, I have the original CD, the unopened TomTom One SD card and he has supplied me with the unactivated Product Card. I have been to ttcode.com and it says the software is unregistered.
My only question is will it load onto a PDA?

Sorted. It's the maps that cause the activation and they apparently work on all versions of the program. Thanks for looking.

I don't see how this sd card will give you a working pda version.
I would return it and buy the proper version - the maps for the one work with ttn5 but the sd card doesn't contact ttn5 so you won't have the application.
Even if you can download a ttn5 update you will be excluded from future upgrade offers as you won't have the correct product code.
The ONE doesn't require activation to work. So it is possible that hardware sold with the card is being used.
Not sure how the seal was left on the sd card - unless more than one ONE was purchased and only a single sd card was used to copy onto a larger sd card for use on the other unit(s)??? _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

The seal covers the case on the SD card because it has never been used. It came from a TomTom One product but has not been activated. The maps work with all TT products.
I am told I can download and install the latest TTN 5 version and then use this map and activate using the product activation card.
I am doing nothing illegal here I think, the product is unregistered and unused. |

The maps may be the same but the software that reads them isnt. The software for TT5 is different from that for the TT One. If it originally came form a TTOne then the activation code will probably only be good for that product.
Could be wrong, but seems strange. Why would somebody sell all the software from a TTOne and yet keep the unit? Does he have it as an ornament on his mantlepiece? Alternatively is he using the TTOne and the software unregistered, in which case you can't use it as well. Registered or not it can only be used in one set up.
May be just my suspicious mind. |

The TomTom ONE software will NOT work on a PDA. It's written for Linux and PDA's use Windows Mobile. If it works on your PDA then fine but whatever you have, it is not the TomTom ONE software.
Unless it is TomTom Navigator Version 1 |

Hi Mark,
Let me tell you what I did. I downloaded TTN V5.2.1 and installed it. I then put the SD card with the maps from TomTom One and used the unused activation product number and device code to get a fully working product.
So the SD card came from the TomTom One but the program on my SPV M2000 came from TomTom.
And it works a treat. Does that explain it better?

It explains a lot to me :D
I have just bought a tt one
a tt one seems to work without "activation"
So it seems I can get the tt mobile update for my smartphone
and then use my activation card from the one for the smart phone
:D :D
well done Doug |

I've used my TT5Nav software and updated it the latest TT5Mobile update from tomtom's site. Its running fine in a imate SP3i. The activation code that came with my Nav software worked fine on the SP3i.
The updates to Nav and Mobile are actually full versions of the application. And the maps, voices, etc. are generic across the platforms.
It sounds like the same applies to ONE software. |
