Hi guys... Long time no post Smile

Well, I originally got my TT3/GPS/iPaq bundle from TotalPDA back in Jan 2004. After a couple of months I lost the GPS unit (ironic, I know) and had to replace it with the same type (TomTom one).

Seems this week the GPS unit has given up the ghost.

After a full charge and I turn it on, all I get is a solid green light. No attempt at bluetooth and clearly no attempt to lock on any sats.

I did an extensive Google and found a few people with the same problem (even a link to here which I have since been unable to uncover again heh).

Some people suggested letting the battery run flat, charge for a couple of hours and that resets it. Well, I've had no joy.

Best course of action? Just replace the GPS unit (again)?

I'm thinking about the Holux Slim 236 because I've gone off the TomTom one now, with the number of people having the same problem as me.

Plus, has anyone ever had the problem where the GPS unit sort of "crashes" when it's being charged in the car via the PDA cradle? I used it a couple of times when battery was going a bit flat and I noticed it would lose sats and drop the bluetooth. Happen to anyone else?

Cheers Smile

Maj

p.s - I'm running TomTom Nav 5.1 these days, not 3 still.

Maj, if the battery in the GPS unit is low then it will loose lock on, I have experianced similar using a wired GPS while charging the XDAIIs at the same time, if the XDA is low on charge it takes all the power and leaves little for the GPS unit (lights are on but no one at home), its down to poor design of the regulators feeding the power. Since purchasing the GPSlim 236 unit you mentioned I have had ne problems - it even works inside a building (not that this is something I would recommend - but it does highlight the units superb sensitivity) - Mike
