Hi all,
After having checked all the GPS deals around (and my bank balance) I have thought that rather than buy another gps unit to use with my PDA, I would use my trusty Etrex Venture.
This is all very well, but I cannot find any cables to connect the 2 up.
Does anyone know of a supplier or where I can get hold of a cable to attach my Etrex to my XDA2i?

Thanks
Sparky

Quote and link directly from the e-trex Vista review page on this very site:
(I'm assuming this system works with all e-trex systems with the exception of the most basic, with no interface and the USB-only C models).

Connecting the Vista to a Pocket PC
This can be done very easily with a cable set supplied from PC-Mobile. All you need to do is set the Garmin Vista interface to NMEA In/NMEA Out, and connect it up to your Pocket PC and use any GPS package set to COM1 and NMEA 4800 and you should start receiving the NMEA data stream.

PC-Mobile's page, linked from the above:

Cables are sold in kit-form consisting of seperate, inter-connecting cables so that if you change your PDA, you only need buy the appropriate link cable and not a full kit again.

I *think* the parts you're looking for are the GEDC and GXDA cables. (You may wish to contact the provider to check I'm making the correct assumptions).

I too have an XDAIIi on which I've installed TomTom Navigator v5 (I use this with a GlobalSat BT-338 Bluetooth GPS Receiver for urban navigation).

I've recently bought a Garmin e-trex Legend for its rough and waterproof exterior.

I've not attempted to link the e-trex to the PDA yet, but could see its usefulness in the overlaying of tracks, routes, etc. with information downloaded from the Legend.

If you decicde to purchase these cables, please post back and let me know how useful you're finding them.

Regards
Mark
