I have an iPAQ 3630 that has been tucked away in a drawer for a coupe of years. Any advice on how ir if it is possible to use this with Tom Tom or similar? What extra hardware would I need?

yes, this will work nicely. You need a GPS receiver, some storage facility, and a car mount. I'd recommend you go fore

- a serial GPS with iPAQ connector
- a PCMCIA jacket with PCMCIA to CF adapter (or a CF jacket)
- an active slide-in car holder from Brodit or others - ideally one where you can connect the GPS directly (Brodit have a holder where you can clip in your existing connector - very clever)

Also, you may need to exchange the main battery - if so get one on eBay and replace it before you install anything.
