Hi woodchip,

There are some guides that should be read (in the following order):

Arrow The beginner’s guide to the PocketGPSWorld camera database.
This explains about the different camera types and about categories and subcategories, so that you can decide how you want the database on your unit.

Depending on whether you have TomTom Navigator on a Pocket PC or TomTom GO, please read either:

Arrow How to install (camera database) POIs to TomTom Navigator 5.
This guide explains how to load the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto a Pocket PC running TomTom Navigator 5.

Arrow How to install (camera database) POIs onto a TomTom GO.
This guide explains how to load the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto your TomTom GO.

The above guides may look lengthy and complicated when first seen. However if you grab a cup of coffee and read each one thoroughly then they should make sense as they have been written in a step-by-step way, for ease of reading.

Regards,

Thanks for that Robert and I had already done what you had said NOT to do i.e downloaded the folder. Should I delete the items what are now in Western Europe and reload the correct stated items only as they are still not showing in the POI page, Sad

Hi woodchip,

If you have created a new folder, under the "Western_Europe-Map" folder for the camera database, then you need to remove it. Basically undo everything that you have done and start again. Now, you did make a backup of your 700’s drive before you started?

You must decide whether you want speed zoned (or not) database. You must then copy the appropriate .bmp and .ov2 files into the map folder and not a sub folder.

Regards,

Hi Robert thanks for your help and forgive me for being so nervous but being a novice and having paid all that money for the 700 I dont want to mess it up. I did indeed make a backup copy onto my comp. but could you confirm that there is only 4 files in the original western maps folder before I delete the others ?

Hi woodchip,

Slight problem, I don't have a GO, let alone a GO 700.

Can you remember what files and/or folders you placed in the "Western_Europe-Map" folder?

Regards,

OK, but which of those files (and folders) did you place in the "Western_Europe-Map" on the hard drive of your GO 700?

Did you just add a new folder to the "Western_Europe-Map", on the hard drive of your GO 700, and if you did, what did you call it?

Regards,

Hi woodchip,

Nah, I’m not tearing my hair out, not yet anyway. ;)

Before you do anything else, take another backup (just in case you remove too much).

When you un-zip the PocketGPSWorld camera database file you get the following:

Folders:
alternative bmp files
asc files
csv files
ov2 bmp files
single file version
speed zoned
xls files

Files:
license.txt
readme.txt
VERSION 3.114.txt
Which files should i use.txt

If any of those are on the hard drive of your GO 700, then remove them.

Regards,

Yes, remove the WAV folder as well! Thumbs Up

By the way, have you downloaded the latest camera database?
I ask because the latest doesn’t have a WAV folder! ;)

Don't copy the Folders. Copy the individual files.

For every camera ov2 there should be a matching bmp. (anyname.ov2 and anyname.bmp)
